Ryan Lefebvre begins his 9th season as a Royals radio and television broadcaster and his 13th season in the Major League booth. He spent 4 seasons as a broadcaster for the Minnesota Twins after being hired at the age of 24, one year after graduating from college. He worked both television and radio for the Twins and broadcast University of Minnesota football, hockey, and volleyball games.
A Los Angeles native, Ryan graduated from Loyola High School in 1989 and began his broadcasting career as a freshman at the University of Minnesota at KUOM radio. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1994, where he was a 3-time All-Big Ten selection in baseball and established school records for hits, triples, and at-bats. He was drafted in the 27th round of the 1993 June Free Agent Draft by the Cleveland Indians and played one season in the New York-Penn League.
Lefebvre is the son of former Major League player and manager Jim Lefebvre. Actively involved in a number of Kansas City community activities, Ryan currently volunteers his time at Kansas City Rescue Mission, Lee’s Summit Hospital, John Knox Village, and TLC for Kids. He is the founder of The Footprints Foundation and Gloves for Kids which raises money for youth programs in Kansas and Missouri. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City named Ryan the 2006 Role Model of the Year for Kansas City.
RYAN'S FAVORITE PROGRAMS:
In Ryan's words, "A great deal of my message deals with people focusing too much on the wrong things in life -- like achievement and accumulation, instead of relationships and community service. The past year has been a journey of recovery and rediscovering my purpose in life. It's a story I don't hesitate to share, it's but a story that is not well known yet."
Ryan continually receives comments on how open and honest he is in his speaking engagements. He believes his best speeches don't disguise anything, hit hard, and come right at the audience.
Examples of some of Ryan's programs are:
God Gave Me Everything I Wanted, Just to Show Me It Wasn't What I Needed
This program is deals with Ryan's Christian faith and is good for church groups, men's Bible study groups, teenage Bible groups, and single adult groups.
My Battle with Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety -or-
Finding My Purpose in Life after Depression
These programs touch on Ryan's battle with depression. He is currently working on a book on this subject.
Of course, Ryan also does programs on his profession as a Major League broadcaster and being a kid growing up in a baseball clubhouse.
